BASIC SKILLS COMPETITION – VOLUNTEERS NEEDED

Club Members – Volunteers are needed for the April 27th Basic Skills Competition.  The sign up sheet will be posted outside rink 1, on the window near the skating school.  Volunteer time at this event counts toward the volunteer hours needed for skaters applying for skater’s assistance.  Ten hours of volunteer service are required before July 1, 2014 to be eligible for a 2013-2014 scholarship.

JODI DIPIAZZA TO SING NATIONAL ANTHEM AT AUTISM SKATES

We are very excited to announce that Jodi DiPiazza will launch Autism Skates by singing the National Anthem!

Currently a student at the Mannes College of Music Preparatory Division,  Jodi studies Piano, Voice, Music Theory, and Composition. She was accepted into the Mannes composition honors at age 10.  She also studies Jazz piano, guitar and songwriting.

In 2010 at the age of 9, she wrote and performed a song “Heroes of Autism” for Toys R Us to be used in conjunction with a fundraiser for Autism Speaks. This campaign raised over $3,000,000.

Jodi is a two time finalist in the ASCAP Young Composers Awards 2011 and 2012.

October 2012, Jodi Performed a duet with Katy Perry on “The Night of Too Many Stars” at NYC’s Beacon Theatre. Televised on Comedy Central, more than $4,000,000 was raised for autism education. An internet sensation, this performance received so much media and attention that Jodi has been featured in newspapers, magazines, on the radio, and television all over the world. Most importantly to Jodi, she appeared in both Bop and Popstar magazine.  She has received hundreds of emails, letters and cards, speaking of the hope and inspiration this performance has given to parents of children with autism, and since last October she has performed at fundraisers for The Arc, AutismNJ, Autism speaks, Children’s Aid and Family Services and many others.

Jodi is a 5th grade student enrolled in public school as well as the Alpine Learning Group. In her spare time Jodi enjoys advocating for autism, writing stories, drawing, and playing in the school band and chorus.

Jodi was diagnosed with Autism at the age of two.

STARS ON ICE BUS TRIP – APRIL 9th

America’s top Olympic medalists are performing at the Prudential Center and we have group tickets!  Join us Wednesday April 9th on a bus trip to see Davis and White, Gracie Gold, Jason Brown and others in Stars on Ice.
